Robert Doisneau - Paris 1940s, 1950s

Robert Doisneau was one of the first photographers I came to know of. The photograph above was framed in in the TV room of the home where I grew up. These photographs really capture some amazing moments of the old times in Paris.  

"I like people for their weaknesses and faults. I get on well with ordinary people. We talk. We start with the weather, and little by little we get to the important things. When I photograph them it is not as if I were examining them with a magnifying class, like a cold and scientific observer. It's very brotherly. And it's better, isn't it, to shed some light on those people who are never in the limelight".

A colorful creative force of an apartment in Nimes, France

Myriam and her family moved from Paris to Nimes, France so they could adopt a life of peace and sweetness with this more spacious apartment with high ceilings and large windows. I love the cozy and cheerful feel of Myriam's artistic skills. 

All tapestries from the walls were removed to give a rough feel, which is contrasted by charming floral fabrics on these Scandinavian chairs.

Beautiful Photography by Honey Tree

I came across these Honey Tree photographs by Lupen Grainne and thought they were beautiful. They feel very light and the use of filters and the colors create dreamy and peaceful scenarios. 

A Colorful Gratin Dauphinois

The first time I had potatoes Gratin, they were homemade by mom. I thought it was one of the most delicious side dishes I had ever had. Natural carbs with gooey cheese, butter, and crustiness from the oven, (plus other ingredients) is the perfect combination for comfort food. 

As you may have guessed, the technique was originated in France. Dauphinois is just a term referring to the French region of Dauphiné.

I am a fan of color. It is my biggest inspiration in my photography, so when I found this colorful recipe of Gratin Dauphinois, I was stoked. I also love the way it was visually recorded by, Béa, one of my favorite food photographers. Her secret ingredient: pink turnips.
