Cashmere is such a beautiful textile, so light and so soft, yet strong; just like a ballerina. I am wondering if that is the conclusion they came to, over at J. Crew when they decided to go shoot their September catalog all the way to St. Petersburg, Russia where they have some of the greatest ballerinas of all time.
I love the idea.
Two of the little Russian ballerinas also modeled.
History Lesson: "Established by Catherine the Great and opened in 1860, the Mariinsky Theater, known as the Kirov State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet during the Soviet era, has hosted some of the most magical stage masterpieces in the past century and a half of Russian culture, including the world premiere of Tchaikovsy's The Nutcracker." p.s. Some of the ballerinas in the photoshoot are form the Mariinsky School.
I feel like attending a ballet performance and buying a cashmere sweater now. Don't you?
